Situated
on the southeast corner of the five acres that makeup the Ward-Thomas
property is a renovated wooden barn with two cupolas. the barn has
five stalls that housed the horses that pulled the carriages of
the Ward and Thomas families before the advent of motorized transportation.
The two-story barn is constructed
entirely of wood with slate shingles for a roof. The cupolas provide
for cooling the ban as warm air exits through the vents. The barn
features post and beam construction as was common for that time
period(1862).
Presently the barn is used to display
common items that were used in the past with two stalls featuring
a typical kitchen and furniture display areas as they would have
appeared at the turn of the century.
